RIM releases BlackBerry Presentor for mobile PowerPoint

For those who pride themselves as road warriors, a laptop can be very impractical at times, hence the emergence of netbooks, smartbooks and smartphones. But what if you need to do a quick presentation to seal the deal among your investors but have no laptop on hand?

Fear not, thanks to the BlackBerry Presentor, you can conduct a mini presentation right from your BlackBerry sans a laptop. Measuring a mere 86 x 60 x 23mm, the BlackBerry Presenter connects to your compatible BlackBerry device wirelessly and lets you beam your PowerPoint presentation via S-Video or VGA. 24 supported animations and 55 transition styles are supported.

The presenter drops this month online at $199 and in stores in February. Just a side note, Pearl 8200 and Curve 8300 are not supported so you might want to consider an upgrade before buying one of these.

Its been known for quite some time that thieves are nasty little people who will steal your info in the blink of an eye. If its your personal information its not that bad. But what if its confidential such as company records, medical information (doctors), legal contacts (lawyers) or financial data (accountants)? You can be in quite a mess both personally and legally.

Jon Rubinstein gets $850,000 salery Pre-tax

While this is offbeat it should be noted that the guy who is single handedly responsible for bringing back Palm from the dead has not only been promoted to the head of the company but also gets a beautiful $850,000 salary a year (of course Pre-tax).

While that might not seem like much, he is also getting a 100% eligibility bonus option and stock option grant that includes 430,000 vested monthly for the next 4 years. As for the guy whose leaving the chair (Ed Colligan), he’ll be getting a hefty $1.2 million for leaving the position.

I wonder if Barack Obama will have something to say about these huge bonuses seeing he’s a Blackberry fan? I know I joke hehe:D

Verizon getting the Pre in six-months?

While Palm will not confirm this information as they said they are still in prospective talks with wireless providers, Verizon is making a pretty bold statement by saying that will be carrying the Pre in six months as well as “a cousin” (Palm EOS?) Of course they are also saying they will be getting a Blackberry Storm 2, Tour and some type of Android device, but that is beside the point here.

While this does look plausible we’re not so quick to jump to conclusions as others in the tech world have done. This is due to the fact that we heard Vodafone say something similar a few months ago only to hear just last week that they have failed in their bid. So as we said, we’re taking this with a grain of salt. Sprint and Palm have been best buddies for ages and we don’t see anything breaking up that friendship anytime soon as both companies are struggling and need one another for support.

Peter Skillman gives another demo of Palm Pre

Just a few hours ago you saw the two minute video of Peter Skillman (VP of design at Palm) giving a hands on demo.

Well Skillman is back and this time the video is well over twenty minutes. Skillman goes into detail about many of the features and confirms that the Touchstone will be a separate accessory that still has a price of unknown. He does not go into detail about about the a few things, instead opting to say that Palm is not ready to release that information.
