So the $99 price drop of Best Buy or the $79.99 price drop of Wal-Mart isn’t enough to entice you into picking up yourself a Pre? Well guess what? If you act fast 9and by fast we mean before today ends) you can get one for free (on a contract of course).
Of course rebates are involved and you’ll have to use coupon codes (provided) but its worth it. Check the read link below for the information.
Well get right to the point. If you haven’t already bought a Pre or you’re thinking about getting one for a friend/loved one, then read on for some awesome discounts.
Future Shop has the Pre for $149 on a new three year contract for Bell Mobile customers in Canada (in store only). They are also offering $75 worth of accessories to sweeten the deal.
We’re also hearing that those who want to buy their Pre in the U.S through Sprint should mention that Best Buy and Amazon have the device for under $100. The possibility of having them (Sprint) match the price is very likely, so go ahead.
If you want the $50 price cut Sprint customers experienced in the U.S but you live just beyond the border, check out Best Buy Mobile for a cool $50 rebate. Oh BTW the sale ends tomorrow so get it while its HOT!
Well it seems that $100 price cut we caught wind of over the weekend was an error on the side of Best Buy as it Best Buy’s Marketing Manager John Bernier has chimed in on his Twitter account to say that “it’s 199, sorry for the confusion, the error is being corrected.”
So much for our hopes, at least this does seem to say that those rumors about the Pre sales dwindling were incorrect.
Best Buy has just initiated a $100 price cut on the Palm Pre which brings it under $100 on contract. The reason is still unknown but it could be any of multiple reasons. According to PreCentral, the reason could be any of the following.
Sales need a boost
Inventory is great, time to start moving the sucker
Time to start competing with the iPhone 3G
Crazy Carl, former used car salesman, is now in charge of smartphone pricing at Best Buy
To be honest with you we’re not sure if we’re supposed to be surprised or what. Not only have we been hearing conflicting reports that the return rate of the Palm Pre has been extremely high, we have also been hearing that the device itself is having serious build qualities. So far we haven’t had any problems with our unit except for the sub standard battery life. But we have confirmed that others have been having this problem. Also Dan Hesse says its too early to tell if the Pre has been a success or not. So we know there might be something Sprint and Palm are holding back from us.
So we will definitely be looking into this. In the meantime, check out the Best Buy commercial below. If this the following commercial does shed some light on the matter it could be that Best Buy does indeed have a bigger stock then it wants and is interested in getting rid of it. Or they could be trying to knock Sprint stores around since they are getting some kind of deal from Palm. In any case it is interesting.
You might remember that the Palm Pre has been strutting its stuff on the Best Buy website for sometime now. But until now that has been no detailed description of the device. That has all changed as now the soon to be launched Pre is listed at just $849.99. That likely is just a place holder as a little below that for the actual $199.99. However we are not seeing anything on the website suggesting that instant rebate thing. But don’t panic as we have confirmed its true, unless Best Buy decides to change their mind at the last minute.
You probably remember that when Sprint announced the vailability of the Palm Pre on June 6th yesterday, they made it clear that while the Palm Pre will be for $199.99 on contract, you will have to pay $299.99 up front and then send in for the $100 mail-in rebate.
That said, Best Buy mobile (one of the soon-to-be retailers of the Palm Pre) will have said device for $199.99 sans the mail-in rebate. So if that $299.99 was looking pretty steep for you then you know where to go. Just be warned though that we’re expecting them to sell out pretty fast though.
Yes we know every time you read something like this your heart jumps so please try not to build up too much anticipation as this might be false. In any case, we’re hearing from BGR that Sprint is holding a Pre “launch lunch” on June 5th. They even are giving a specific time (sort of), noon to be exact. Anyways this bit of information holds true it could come in line with the rumors that we have been hearing stating that Sprint will release the Pre on June the 7th.
More importantly this would come right on in line with Sprint who usually does these types of launches on Sundays and more so Best Buy is said to be carrying the Pre on June 7th. With all this information, a Friday “launch lunch” doesn’t seem too far fetched. But then again that’s what we said the last time.
In anycase we will keep our fingers crossed and let you know. As we have said many times before, June is the more likely date as May really never said anything for any wireless carrier whatsoever.
We know the launch of the Pre must be imminant as all the information that keeps leaking out suggest that that rumored June launch date is in fact true.
This latest bit of info involves Best Buy which has long been rumored to be the exclusive retailer of the Pre for a while. Said website (BestBuy.com) has the Palm Pre on their site in the memorable “yellow meet-the-pte” style add.
Ironically the Pre ad only appears if it is searched for (ie. Pre, Palm Pre etc.)
Yes we know we’re desperate to get our hands on this thing, and we’re almost sure you are too. So sit tight until we figure out when Sprint and Palm decides to actually give this one to us. You’ll know as soon as we do.
PhoneArena’s sister blog webOS Arena is saying that Best Buy Mobile will be the exclusive retailer of the upcoming Palm Pre. Although just a rumor it does make sense seeing that last summer Sprint chose Best Buy to be the exclusive retailer of their much hyped Instinct.
webOS Arena says that they have information fro credible sources that the Palm Pre would be the exclusive of said retailer for the first 60 days. This does make some sense seeing that both Palm and Sprint have been having a rough time and one of the best ways to beat Apple and the iPhone is to play their game.
As for when those first 60 days will commence, that is still left in the dark.
