Sprint warning reps that Pre is not right for everyone?
This piece of news is very interesting. Just in from the venerable Engadget.com, Sprint reps are being warned in an internal document that the Palm Pre is not for everyone and they should not try and convince all prospective customers to buy one.
According to the internal memo, “the Palm Pre is best suited for none-IT centric business users.” We’re not sure what this is all getting at but we’re guessing that Sprint knows something about the latest breed of smartphones to enter the market, while extremely good, they lack the managibility as a fleet device, which is something the Treo Pro and other Window’s Mobile and Blackberry devices have.
A few of the questions reps are told to ask prospective Pre buyers follows.
- Does your company have specific security and manageability requirements for mobile devices?
- Does your company have specific application requirements?
- Does your line of business require specific product features on mobile devices?
- Does your company centrally provision devices for large deployment?
According to the document, depending on your answer to any of these questions, a Pre might or might not be the best phone for you, and a more suitable option would be the Treo Pro.
That said, don’t be surprised if your local Sprint store tries to talk you out of buying that Pre or offer you a Treo Pro instead come June 6th.
