OFFICIAL: Palm Pre coming to Verizon January 25th
Confirming months of rumors that the Pre would be heading to Verizon, Palm has officially confirmed that the Pre will be heading to America’s biggest wireless network.
Dubbed the Pre Plus, the device has three major differences from the current Pre sold on Sprint and other networks. For one, the center button is missing (which was practically useless we might add), the back of the device comes fitted with the matte cover needed for the Touchstone charger instead of the finger print-glossy version currently on the Sprint version. Last but not least it ups the internal storage from 8GB to a full 16GB.
The device has not been hampered by the lack of WiFi and as we said before it will be arriving on Verizon’s network January 25th.

Verizon Pre and Pixi Plus specs leaked at CES

Pre Plus & Pixi Plus Specs
It has been known for quite some time now that the Pre and more recently the Pixi were heading to Verizon. As of yesterday we know what it will be called and what features it will sport. So far we’re hearing that the Pre will be called the “Pre Plus” and will double the memory on the current Sprint Pre (which sits at 8GB). The same thing goes for the Pixi which will be called the “Pixi Plus) and will also double the memory (up from 4GB to 8GB).
Last but not least, the Pixi Plus will bring Wi-Fi into the picture, something the Pixi from Sprint lacks. Check out the graphic above for the full features.

Palm Pre o2 Wireless branded packaging caught in wild
Guess what guys, someone has caught the Palm Pre in its o2 Wireless packaging. Not very interesting for Sprint and Bell customers who have been experiencing the Pre goodness for some months now. But if you’re one of those who are waiting for the Pre to arrive on o2 Wireless, this should be good news for you. Check out the two photos above.

Palm Pre coming to Spain next week [October 14 2009]
Guess what Spaniards? You’re getting the Pre next week. Palm has made it official that our Spanish brothers will be able to pick themselves up a Pre come October 14th. The cost of the phone will range from €0 to €219 depending on the contract. So remember the date, be outside your nearest Movistar store to pick one up.
Palm Pre ranked among the top ten “Most Brilliant Products of 2009″ by Popular Mechanics
Well what’d you know, Palm has garnered itself a nice award from the boys at PopularMechanics. That’s right, the Pre has been ranked among the “Most Brilliant Products of 2009.” It is one of the only two gadgets to make the list. BTW if you don’t read PopularMechanics you should pick yourself up a subscription.
The Palm Pre (which costs $200 with a contract from Sprint) doesn’t break ground with any one engineering advance. Instead, it sets a new standard by putting all the best available technologies together. Most cellphones—even high-end ones—excel at some tasks, while utterly ignoring others. The Palm Pre’s features read like a gadget geek’s wish list: optional inductive charging, a full keyboard, the ability to sync with iTunes—and it can run multiple applications at once. Sometimes more is more.
So if you haven’t gotten a Pre yet, this might be another reason to get one.

webOS 1.2.1 released, fixes Exchange support issues and iTunes sync
Well that was quick, just a few days after the release of webOS 1.2.0 Palm has issued a new update to address to important problems. The first involves Exchange mail syncing (as webOS 1.2.0 rendered it useless), and the second fixes that problem called iTunes syncing.
If you’re new to the party, Apple and Palm have been playing cat and mouse concerning the iTunes syncing which Apple claims is illegal because it tricks the software. So far the MO of Apple has been to release an update to iTunes which breaks the sync, and a few weeks later Palm sends out a patch to webOS that brings syncing back. Well Palm has done just that again. So those iTunes users, rejoice, syncing of your Pre to your iTunes software is possible again.
Since USB-IF has gotten pissed at Palm, said company basically isn’t getting help from them, on the other hand there’s nothing much they can do so we’ll have to wait and see what the next major move is in this chess game.
