HP debuts G62t Core i3 Notebook for a cool $600

February 5th, 2010 admin No comments

If you’ve been itching to buy an HP Envy 13 or 15 but the $1200+ price tag scared the hell out of you, consider this latest addition to HP’s budget PC line. It’s dubbed the G62t and packs Core i3 with the options for i5 and i7 upgrades. Standard features include 160GB hard drive, 3GB of DDR3 RAM, 15.6-inch widescreen LED display that carries 1366×768 pixels, DVD burner, 3x USB 2.0 ports, multi card reader, audio in/out ports, and the options to add Blu-ray and half a terebyte  of disc space. In case you’re wondering, HDMI doesn’t come standard (but it is an option).

However, we can’t complain too much with a starting price of only $600.

Meet the MSI dualscreen e-reader

January 7th, 2010 admin No comments

So HP has the Slate and MSI is also turning heads with it’s dual screen e-reader. First of all this is anything but an e-reader. The name is very misleading as this is more of a netbook with two screens (way more powerful then an e-reader). The device is 10 inches and is 100% multitouch (supporting 2 fingers).

What we have so far are prototype specs but we understand that this is coming sometime this year. Instead of running some Android or Linux flavor, this thing runs a full version of Windows 7 (Home Premium) and is powered by an Atom Z processor.

On screen keyboard is included that comes with haptic feedback and for now that is all we know. Check out the video below for more info courtesy of Engadget.

The HP Slate

January 6th, 2010 admin No comments

So there’s been rumors about an Apple Slate for years, but while we wait for that mythical January 27th date to roll around, feast your eyes on the HP Slate. Yes it’s the year of slate PC’s and HP seems to have hit something here.

The device is multitouch, it supports gaming, and so far we know it runs some flavor of Windows 7. That’s all we know so far thanks to Microsoft’s press conference, but you can be sure we’ll be digging for more info at Microsoft’s and HP’s booth. No it won’t take the place of that mythical “Courier” device we laid our eyes on a few months ago and it sure won’t quench the Apple tablet rumors, but at least this looks sexy enough to buy.

More info coming as we find out more. BTW check out the promo video below.

HP TouchSmart tm2 cuts the fat and ups the specs

January 6th, 2010 admin No comments

HP TouchSmart tm2

HP made ripples with the tx2 but even though it was the first consumer multitouch convertable tablet PC, it still had some lacking. However HP has spruced things up a bit with the tm2 which packs a 12.1-inch screen and is powered by a Core 2 Duo processor as well as ATI Mobility Radeon graphics and a claim of 9 hours of battery life from its standard 6-cell battery.

The touchscreen is capacitive making it pen and finger friendly. You might notice that HP called on design cues from it’s Envy line including the touchpad which is a single button as well as a full aluminum build. The tm2 is lighter and stronger and will ship January 17th for mere $949 (starting price).

Thanks to touch friendly Corel Painter, BumpTop 3D as well as a dolphin screen saver as well as Netflix inclusive TouchSmart software, HP is really bring things up to par in the touch arena. Check out the videos below courtesy of Engadget.

HP updates ProBook and EliteBook notebook lines

January 6th, 2010 admin No comments

elitebook-8440w

Just in time for CES 2010, HP has sent out an update to its line of business notebooks. Bringing the updates to six professional models, the new options include Intel’s new Core i7 processor for all, as well as plenty of other high cost, high-end accouterments. The ProBook models include the 6440b (14-inch), 6540b (15.6-inch) and carry a starting price of $949. The aluminum EliteBook 8440w and 8540w start at $1299 and $1499 respectively.

Rounding up the bunch is the platinum aluminum 8440p and 8540p which start at $1,099 and $1,249. The differences between all models is barely noticeable to the untrained eye but such things as spill-resistance drains on the EliteBook models and 24 hour battery life on the 8440p / 8540p are just some of the things that sets the notebooks apart.

All models are set to go on sale in February and we’re hearing that USB 3.0 will be offered on some of the EliteBook lineups.

Haleron iLet 10

As the tablet scene heats up, there is no shortage of offerings and by the time CES rolls around tomorrow, they’ll be dozen more offerings. However Haleron’s iLet 10-inch tablet is something that strikes us as being quite interesting especially if you’re into something on the cheap side in a bigger form factor.

Powered by an 1.6GHz Atom N450 processor, the Heleron iLet comes with 160GB of HDD as well as a 1024 x 600 resolution multitouch screen. Wireless options include 802.11a/b/g wireless, 3G (quad-band GSM) and GPS. A nice carrying case is included and the system starts at $419. However it moves up from there and should be shipping sometime this week.
