We already knew that cut and paste would make it into generation one of the Palm Pre, but as to what other awesome details would display itself on the device was yet to be known until now. Mainly we’re talking about text manipulation here.
For those wondering how difficult it would be to type on the device we have the answer for you. For instance there is an auto capitalization feature that shows itself once the period has been entered. As for selecting text which would be rather difficult seeing the device uses a capacitive touchscreen, Palm has put in some handy trick to get around that.
- You can hold down the Alt key to go into “Trackball Mode,” which lets you swipe to move one character at a time. You can do the same with the shift key and it will select text as you swipe.
- There is “Smart Deletion,” whereby you can hold down the delete key in order to delete an entire word.
